“Shark Attack” is a short animation that some of our students created (pre Covid- 19). This project was born from a literacy and art project that we engaged with called ‘Making Your Mark’. The children drew/constructed/painted their characters, brainstormed a story, and created a storyboard.

This project started out with a literacy focus but the benefits went beyond literary achievements. The students enhanced their self-confidence and sense of belonging from working with their peers, and spoke about feeling “proud” of themselves and looked forward to working with their peers on the animation. This activity demanded many skills from the students, such as using technology, being creative, and acting as part of a team. Certainly, there was a great atmosphere and energy in the classroom, and it’s safe to say that the children’s’ general well-being was enhanced as a result of this creative and fun activity.
